Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organization which teaches public speaking and leadership skills.
The first Toastmasters club was started in California ninety years ago. Today Toastmasters' organisation has more than 260,000 members in over 12,500 clubs in 113 countries. Toastmasters International concepts has help people, of all backgrounds, to become more confident in front of an audience.
Each member achieves their goals by working through a series of manuals, each of which offers carefully designed projects to suit all members.
There are 5 Achievement levels which are recognised internationally:
- Competent Communicator
- Advance Speaker - Bronze
- Advance Speaker - Silver
- Advance Speaker - Gold
- Distinguished Toastmaster
To be awarded as a Distinguished Toastmaster, a member must give at least 50 speeches and/or presentations on a variety of topics. Each speech/presentation is evaluated. Members receive feedback to enhance their speaking skills.
LB Club's members have a range of experiences, abilities and techniques. The background of our members includes business owners, stay-at-home parents, corporate trainers, authors, students and people who have retired and putting their experiences into other fields. We also have many nationalities at our club. This varied background gives our club diversity.
As LB Club members mature in their speaking skills, they utilising their talents in other environments such as in their work or charities. There have been several organisations such as Woman's Institution, Young Farmers Association in addition to lifestyle workshop and community functions who have hired LBSpeakers' members to speak at ther functions.
Interested?
There are two types of speaking engagements: 1) a keynote; motivational; and after dinner speaker or 2) a seminars or workshops on business skills i.e. speaking tips, presentation techniques etc.
Speaking at a Function
If you are interested in using a Leighton Buzzard Speaker's member for your function - email or phone Club President, Rose Marie Calder at 07776.358.496 to discuss your speaking requirements. Based upon the requirements, a speaker will be recommended along with their qualifications.
Monetary discussions will between the organiser and the speaker only. LB Speakers Club's role is to assist members to expand their speaking experiences. LB Speakers' Club does not receive any payment for the recommendations.
Workshops/ Seminars
Toastmaster International's techniques are renowned for their successes.
Local Toastmaster Clubs have been used by companies and organisations to assist their employees to develop their communication skills. LB Speakers members are willing to assist companies with these goals. Leighton Buzzard Speakers Club members, working together, can fulfil your organisations needs.
